Christos Lyrintzis, Professor, University of Athens

Christos Lyrintzis holds a BA in Political Science from Panteion University, an LLB from Athens University, and an MSc and a Phd in Political Science, both from the London School of Economics. He has taught continuously in the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration since 1988, and has repeatedly served as its Chair, a post which he also currently holds (2014-16). He was the Director of the Social Research Centre of Greece (2003-05) and a Senior Research Fellow at the Hellenic Observatory of the London School of Economics (2010-11). He is the author of many articles in journals and edited volumes, as well as of two books; his work is mainly concerned with comparative political analysis focusing on the study of political parties, Greek politics, and political communication. His current research work and interests lie in the comparative political analysis of Southeast European societies, and in modern political theory. He has been teaching on the Postgraduate Programme for the past eleven years, years, and was Programme Director in 2006-10 and 2011-14.
